Welcome back to your source for the latest information about "what's happening" in the world of Outreach and Access Awareness at Great Lakes. I am pleased to announce the appointment of Naryan Leazer to the newly created Outreach Consultant position in Wisconsin. Naryan has already started his work with Great Lakes on planning, developing, and implementing outreach department initiatives to students and their families, college access counselors in middle and high schools, community-based organizations, the faith community, pre-college programs, and post-secondary institutions.These initiatives focus on encouraging higher education, increasing access to college and financial aid, and educating students about the importance of managing their money.
Naryan's rich background in higher education is a great benefit to Great Lakes. He worked as a Counselor/Recruiter for the Educational Opportunity Program and as the Director of Pre- College Programs at Marquette University. His work and active involvement in state and regional associations has earned him the trust of his peers in the college access community. Naryan has chaired the Wisconsin Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel State Conference Committee and graduated from the Midwest Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel's Emerging Leaders Institute in 2004. In addition to his work at Great Lakes, Naryan serves as a Youth Pastor at Praise Temple International Church and an adjunct professor in the College of Business at Cardinal Stritch University. He has been married to his wife,Vera, for 19 years, and they have two teenage daughters, Raphael and Amber. I am truly delighted to welcome Naryan to the Great Lakes team, and I am sure you will welcome him with the same open arms you've shared with me! Together we can continue to open doors and expand access to higher education and the opportunities it creates for our students, families, and society as a whole.
