Greetings,
I am incredibly pleased to announce our newest resource for counselors—College Step-by-Step!
The perfect tool to help you counsel students and families on how to prepare and pay for college, College Step-by-Step, includes a comprehensive resource guide, an eye-catching poster and door hanger, and an easy-to-follow handout for students and families.
At the heart of College Step-by-Step is College Step-by-Step: The Counselor's Resource. Completely new and improved, this guide is based on three years of feedback from college access counselors on our annual Counselor's Toolkits. It uses four easy steps—plan, prepare, apply, decide—to turn a daunting topic into a manageable plan. As you help students follow the steps, they will be able to get into college and succeed, no matter where they are in the process. Throughout the guide you'll also find our excellent, free resources as well as ideas for how to use them at each step along the way!
Our poster was designed so you can customize it by adding your room number. When students see the poster, they'll know who can answer their questions about college and where they can find you. Our door hanger hanging on your door will encourage students to talk to you about college and motivate them to be more proactive.
Our fun handout, designed specifically for students and families, can be used at financial aid events or available in your office for students to take home to their families. The eight easy steps make the process of applying to, enrolling in, and paying for college seem doable and something that all students can accomplish!
You can find more information about our fabulous resources by visiting the College Step-by-Step page on mygreatlakes.org.
Take the first step with me today as we open the doors to higher education for countless students who may not have thought it was possible!
Until next time,
